Although he specializes in open-source application development using PHP, Python, Java, JavaScript, or whatever emerging technology may be the best fit for a particular project, Jough’s favorite programming language remains Commodore BASIC, in which he wrote his first program. He is a proponent of less code, making applications as uncomplicated as possible. Through his work at Duo, Jough aims to build components for web applications that can not only be reused, but adapted as needed.
Jough has been designing and programming for the web since 1996. He has developed internet-based dynamic, database-driven web applications for a variety of businesses and non-profits, and is proud to have had a hand in developing websites for the Chicago Public Library, CheapUncle and the CPS Alumni Organization. He is also a Zend Certified Engineer (PHP5).
Outside of work Jough is a modestly rated tournament chess player, freelance writer, traveler, and ardent proponent of the Oxford comma. He is perennially working on his first book of poetry, as well as side projects such as Poetry X and Clean Livin’. He believes the Internet is humanity's greatest invention save air conditioning. Originally from Philadelphia, Jough has brought his East Coast disposition with him to Chicago.
